I just made this and it was fantastic. Definitely needed to top up the water a couple times as I went though

i updated the recipe based on your feedback, thanks again!

thanks for making it bryan!

that’s good to know, i let some of my pasta on the top not be fully covered because i stir the pot often enough to make sure they get evenly cooked, but adding more liquid to this just makes it saucier and certainly doesn’t hurt.

I made this last night, and my husband and I are so excited to have it again at lunch! Easily the best mac and cheese I've ever made. Thank you so much!

Absolutely. I like to air-fry broccoli and add it to my Annie’s Mac and cheese. So good

Saw this and immediately went to the store to buy all the ingredients! Wow—like broccoli cheddar soup Mac n cheese in allll the best way ways. Everyone should make this immediately.

I struggled a bit with the cooking liquid covering my pasta and ended up doing a separate roux…do you think I just have too large of a sauce pan?

devan grimsrud's avatar

i’m so glad it spoke to you, thanks for making it! it could be that your saucepan was too large, i’m not entirely sure. what do you mean you did a separate roux? like additionally to add to thicken it?

Veronica Bryant Bean's avatar

I added a cold roux to help thicken because I needed a bit more liquid to cook the pasta! Either way, it was delish. I might have just used too large of a pasta shape or too large of a pot or some other combo of human error lol.

Dull - sauce was too thin and meh in terms of flavor. I do like adding burnt broccoli and lemon zest and will be doing that with my old multi-cheese sauce, cooked pasta mixed together and baked approach.

hey mary, sorry or hear you didn’t like it. dull sounds pretty bad, not sure what went wrong but glad you at least got something out of it.
