this week i’m happy to share content creator, photographer and baker extraordinaire eric chou’s fave five. also known as erictriesit on instagram and tiktok, eric might be one of the only members of gen z that i both know and like. lol.
we met while working together a few years back, and to this day i’m in awe of how stunning and fun his recipes are. chocolate chili crisp cookies, studio ghibli soot sprite black sesame brownies, roasted garlic and miso mushroom pasta—are you kidding me?! i’ll also admit that i often stalk his ig stories when he’s traveling so i can save his restaurant tips in cities that i may or may not ever go to. enjoy eric’s fave five and see you next week with a new recipe!

My airfryer—It changed my life! If you’re thinking of getting one, I’d say definitely invest in a large one. It heats up really quick and is perfect for heating up leftovers and frozen snacks. I sometimes do polymer clay art and can even bake my clay in there!
Blind box figurines, specifically Sonny Angels—This has become a full blown addiction. They’re basically adorable collectable figurines in a sealed box where, at the time you buy them, you don’t know the specific design you’ll get. They’re super trendy at the moment but I also just enjoy collecting things. I’ve even been painting my own custom figures lately. Other honourable mentions aside from Sonny Angels: Pop Mart and Sanrio.
Podcasts by comedians—I’m obsessed with queer comedian comedy podcasts. These three are my favourites: So True, I Never Liked You and Sibling Rivalry. My current favorite brain rot activity is playing video games with one of these podcasts as background noise.
Feel good cozy tv shows—I just did my first ever watch through of Sex and the City; it changed my life. I laughed and cried nonstop; I’m such a Charlotte. Also, Modern Family will always be a classic!
Winkel 43’s apple pie—I had the apple pie from Winkel 43 in Amsterdam a few months ago and have not stopped thinking about it since. It may have one of the best desserts I’ve had in my life. Juicy, tart apples with a spiced crust that tastes like a snickerdoodle cookie. Served warm with whipped cream.
“eric might be one of the only members of gen z that i both know and like. lol.” —> this had me cackling and nodding my head in agreement. Love this safe space! Eric you’re a once in a generation 💎
thank goodness for expendable cash!
