sachin obaid’s fave five
The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari by Robin Sharma—When the world gets a bit turbulent I find this book provides a powerful set of tools and philosophies for finding peace and purpose amidst the chaos.
Chili crisp—I have a minor obsession with this condiment and always have at least 4 different versions in my pantry. It gives that perfect kick to almost anything!
Spain—I really love travelling and eating in Spain. The food is undoubtedly one of the best in the world and the people are incredibly nice and welcoming. They have truly perfected the art of sobremesa, literally translated “at the table”, but meaning “the time spent around the table after a meal talking to the folks with whom you shared it.” It’s a time to digest and savour both food and friendship.
Mezcal—As a fan of peaty Islay Whiskey for a number of years, I was easily drawn to the distinct smoky flavor profile of mezcal. With over 30 different agave varieties used to make mezcal, there's a vast range of flavor profiles to explore.
Creating new concepts—I find a lot of joy in birthing new ideas and embracing all the challenges that come from launching a new business. Gully Burger is my latest and combines my Indian roots with my time living in the United States. I wanted to combine classic American diner food with Indian ingredients to create something familiar yet unique, and it’s been a fun experience to develop the menu and to see the concept come to life.
