my favorite end of summer recipes
15 faves plucked from the digital pages of three years of darn good
summer isn’t over, but it will be all too soon. the transition to fall always comes on quickly, feeling nearly unexpected every year. since i’ll be taking a little summer break for the next two weeks, i decided (instead of leaving you with “nothing” other than an index full of free recipes) to go through my archive and pull my favorite recipes from three summers (!) of darn good. may they serve as a reminder to you (and me honestly) to make or remake them before the season is over with the last haul of tomatoes (or first haul of peaches), for just one more summer barbecue or picnic, or for the hottest end of summer days still yet to come.
without further ado, here are 15 of my favorite summer recipes from the archive:

caesar-y pasta and potato salad with hot sauce butter croutons
silken tofu “caprese” salad with cucumber, thai basil and stone fruit

i’ve also been cooking other people’s recipes lately. here are some i’ve made in the past few weeks and enjoyed thoroughly:
sonntagsbrötchen (german bread rolls) by
tomato water pasta as outlined here by
no bake buckwheat granola by aimee france (a passion reignited by best food blog’s recent feature on buckwheat groats, with a few words from yours truly)
lil dumpies adapted by cult flav, based on a recipe from
’s cookbook, third culture cookingmarion burros’s original plum torte (iykyk; find a freely accessible version here)
plus: cantaloupe and cucumber salad with tajín and one-pot caprese orzo by me (lol cheeky, i know) for simply recipes
