this is the simplest of the simple when it comes to smoothies. there’s no sea moss or vanilla collagen, no mango chunks, pitaya powder or giselderberries (lol), just four very straight forward ingredients—not counting salt, because yes, smoothies need seasoning, too. this may just be the only smoothie recipe i’ll ever publish because it’s basically the only one i ever make. and make it i do. usually once or twice a week.
that being said, i went back and forth with whether or not to publish it at all, for multiple reasons. when i’m making this smoothie i never weigh or measure the ingredients and i usually change it up each time whether with a pinch of cinnamon or cardamom, a glug of kefir, a handful of flaxseeds, a big juicy date, or a heaping spoonful of peanut butter. obviously, in the end, i decided to just send it out. however simple it may be, i hope at least one of you can find it as a convenient go-to smoothie recipe to tweak and make your own.
serves 2; makes about 400 grams / 14 ounces
2 frozen, sliced bananas (about 175 grams)
a small handful of rolled oats (about 2 tablespoons)
2 tablespoons unsweetened hazelnut butter with or without cacao (gifted not sponsored by my fave cravers)
300 ml oat milk (add more if you want it looser, a bit less if you like it thicker)
1/4 teaspoon fine sea salt
add everything to a blender and blend until smooth. divide evenly between two glasses and serve immediately.
should I use super ripe bananas only?
